Frequently asked questions !!

We have compiled questions that are being asked by youth who would like to be part of the committee activities. 

* Its objective shall be the furtherance of religious and cultural education and instruction among the Youth in the community. The Youth Committee shall have the following functions:

  1. Coordinate Youth activities
  2. Organize Youth and college annual night; institute scholarships for the needy and the merited students
  3. Plan for Youth camps stressing religious education and instruction
  4. Plan fundraising activities to fund Youth activities

The Youth Committee comprises of the Chair person, the Vice Chair, and the committee members. The Chair and the Vice Chair have to be Life members at the temple and are appointed by the HTCS Board for a 2-year term or more and the committee members are picked by the Chair and Vice Chair.

The Youth Council comprises of Youth members (High School/College/Young working professionals) between the ages of 15 and 30 years.

The Youth Group comprises of all registered/unregistered HTCS Youth members/volunteers that avail the benefits of the various programs as well as volunteering opportunities that are enabled for the Youth. Please note that being a registered Youth Group volunteer will allow you to avail additional benefits.

This would enable you to receive priority notifications of programs that we launch and also get an acknowledgement of any volunteer hours after verification and the requisite approvals.

  2. All Festivals/Religious events at the temple based on the published annual temple calendar
  3. Cultural events
  4. Annual Health Camp
  5. Cafeteria
  6. Community activities outside the temple
  1. To be an HTCS Youth volunteer/registered Youth Group member, please register yourself here.
  2. Youth Committee would periodically send out emails soliciting Youth volunteers for specific events. Additionally, there are volunteering opportunities with the Religious Committee on a regular basis.
  3. If you opt in, your preferred phone number would be added to the WhatsApp group that has been created by the Youth Committee. Additionally, for each activity/event, the Youth Committee may create a WhatsApp Group for ease and speed of communication in bulk, or individually with each Youth Group member.
  4. Once a Youth member registers for an opportunity OR is volunteering regularly for the Religious Committee, he or she needs to log their hours in a diary kept in the Manager’s office upstairs at the temple.
  5. It is important that the Youth Group members get an acknowledgement for their hours by the Youth Committee.
  6. We are currently working on a volunteer scheduling system that will also record hours by following a specific process
  7. Please note that we believe your objective should be to understand, learn and practice our rich heritage and culture by sincerely involving yourselves at our temple and community activities. Youth Group members should not solely focus on the objective of getting an acknowledgement for their service hours and/or a certificate.
  1. The Youth Committee on its own OR in collaboration with other committees at HTCS has a need for Youth volunteers for a variety of events, including but not limited to Religious, Cultural, Education, Community Affairs, Food/Cafeteria, IT, Publications, Safety & Security.
  2. For specific events organized by the Youth Committee, you will receive an email requesting registration as a volunteer for that specific event.
  3. Once you register and get an acknowledgement, you would be able to log actual hours against the task.

Each year, HTCS Youth Committee awards two to four scholarships of $1000 each to graduating Seniors of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School (BRHS) that are needy and have exhibited merit. The selection committee at BRHS independently follows their internal process to select the qualified students and then informs HTCS of the award recipients. The awards are given out by the Youth Committee Chair and/or Vice Chair at the Annual graduation event at BRHS.

  1. To be considered for PVSA, you must be a registered HTCS Youth volunteer/ Youth Group member. Hence first please register yourself here.
  2. For activities announced directly by the Youth Committee and for which you are selected to volunteer for, please follow the steps for logging in your hours at the temple and get an acknowledgement from the Youth Committee. These hours will then be considered for your overall service hours at the temple. For activities announced and conducted by the other committees at the temple, please follow the guidance/instructions by the respective committees.
